The London Borough of Enfield is situated in the northern London and forms part of Outer London. This is the northernmost London borough and one of the largest by area and population. At the moment 280,000 people live there populating the following 21 wards: Bowes, Bush Hill Park, Chase, Cockfosters, Edmonton Green, Enfield Highway, Enfield Lock, Grange, Haselbury, Highlands, Jubilee, Lower Edmonton, Palmers Green, Ponders End, Southbury, Southgate, Southgate Green, Town, Turkey Street, Upper Edmonton and Winchmore Hill.
The Borough was formed in 1965 by combining areas of the former Municipal Borough of Southgate, the Municipal Borough of Enfield and the Municipal Borough of Edmonton. It used to be a small market town on the edge of the forest and at one day travel distance to London. But with the railway development Enfield has become a residential suburb but very well transport linked to Central London.
In the Middle Ages wealthy Londoners came to Enfield first to hunt because of the forested areas. Later they stayed and built houses. In 1303, Edward I of England granted Enfield to hold a weekly market which is still existing.
The first ATM in the world was fixed at the Barclays Bank in Enfield.

- Did you know that the refuse and recycling collection day will be changed from 15th June 2009? If you receive black sacks for refuse and containers for recycling your collection day will change. This project is introduced to coordinate the refuse and recycling collections with street cleaning keeping your street cleaner and tidier.
- Did you know that the council provides and maintain litter bins to prevent the depositing of litter in public places? Over 1,500 litter bins are situated across the Borough and are emptied on a weekly basis.
