The Borough of Camden is situated in North London and forms part of inner London. The southern reaches of the borough form parts of Central London. The borough was formed in 1965 combining the former areas of Hampsetad, Holborn and St. Pancras. The borough was named after Charles Pratt, 1st Earl Camden who was English lawyer, judge and Whig politician. He acquired the manor through marriage. In 1791 he started the development of the settlement by building 1400 houses which was later become known as Camden Town.
Today? Camden street markets are popular tourist attraction selling books, alternative fashion clothing, accessories, food, antiques and more bizarre items.
