The London Borough of Waltham Forest is situated in north-east London and forms part of Outer London. It includes a built-up residential development and more than 25% of the borough is made of open spaces, parks and playing fields. There are 20 wards in the borough: Cann Hall, Cathall, Chapel End, Chingford Green, Endlebury, Forest, Grove Green, Hale End and Highams Park, Hatch Lane, Higham Hill, High Street, Hoe Street, Larkswood, Lea Bridge, Leyton, Leytonstone, Markhouse, William Morris, Wood Street and Valley.
The borough was formed in 1965 by merger of the previous municipal Boroughs of Chingford, Leyton and Walthamstow
The main centres of population in the borough are Chingford in the north, Walthamstow in the centre (and the administrative hub including the council offices) and Leyton and Leytonstone to the south. Waltham Forest has the fifth largest Muslim population in England and the third largest in London (coming after its neighbouring boroughs, Newham and Tower Hamlets).

The site is only for household recyclable waste and does not accept trade waste or general waste.
- Leyton Re-Use and Recycling Centre
Gateway Road, Leyton (near Asda store)
Opening hours:
Tuesday to Saturday: 8.30am to 4.30pm
Sunday (including Bank Holidays) 8.30am to 3.30pm
The centre is closed on Mondays. The site does not accept trade waste.
