Polishing Wood Floors – What Products to Choose

Wood floor polishing tipsPolishing a wooden floor is a great alternative to the messier and more time-consuming wood floor sanding and refinishing services. Indeed, not all wood floors can be just polished instead of the more in-depth sanding and refinishing maintenance routine. However, many people opt directly for the stressful sanding process when, in fact, the floor can be just polished and restored to the point it looks brand-new and extra flawless. Wood floor polishing brings back the initial lustre, shine, and beauty of a hardwood floor. It also contributes to filling in all micro and finer scratches on the surface of the floor that are a result of everyday use and high traffic.

As a result, the floor's surface looks simply perfect, super smooth and even, and you get the opportunity to significantly decrease the risk of these scratches growing bigger and causing more serious issues and imperfections. Polishing helps and contributes to restoring the protective layer of finish and increasing the durability and hard-wearing power of the floor. What is even better, polishing is the ideal DIY project for the weekend and you don't have to worry about finding a reputable and reliable service contractor and spending money on the extra cost. You don't need any special equipment or skills to polish your wooden floor. All you need is to know how to do it as an expert and what are the right products you should invest in.

Wood Floor Polishing Tips

Polishing a wooden floor is not something that requires too much time, energy, money, or elbow grease. On the contrary, wood floor polishing requires a gentle hand and attention to detail. There is no need to aggressively work the polishing product into the wooden floor's surface. The right polish will do all the work and magic and provide you with perfect results.

First off, you want to get the floor ready for polishing. Just remove all furniture out of the room along with all obstacles that may challenge you to polish the floor quickly and smoothly. Dry mop to remove all the dust and dirt particles from the surface of the floor and use the vacuum machine if necessary. Once you know the square footage of the room you will be able to order and purchase the exact quantity of a polishing product you need to cover the entire floor. Normally, one bottle of wood floor polisher will cover five hundred square feet of the floor.

You don't have to aggressively shake the bottle of polish before you use it. Just make sure to gently rock it back and forth for up to a minute. Spread a nice layer of wood floor polish and leave the product to self-level. Grad the applicator pad and continue gently to guide the puddle of the product back and forth with the wood grain. Don't pressure the pad. Work in small sections of the floor and spread the polish evenly. You can polish your floor every two to four months or longer, it depends on the traffic on the floor and the business of your household.
