V4 Alpine, Canyon Oak Engineered Flooring, Rustic, Brushed & Oiled, 190x18x1900mm is a tongue and grooved board which can be installed as a floating floor on an underlay or fully bonded with floor adhesive to the subfloor.
This brushed and hard-wax oiled oak floor is part of the Eiger Collection which was born from the idea of the producing an alternative to solid wood parquet. Giving the same robust feel underfoot as a solid floor but with far more economical use of the precious hardwood top layer. The planks use a thick layer of European oak and are back on an ultra-stable hardwood multi ply tongue & grooved base. Realising that traditional solid flooring was wasteful and more damaging to the environment, V4 Wood flooring have pioneered the use of this type of flooring construction over the last decade.
This floor is finished with coats of hard wax oil which keeps the hardwood surface protected from stains and wear whilst maintaining a natural look and feel.
Engineered wood flooring may be installed as a floating floor, which means that the boards are joined together and loose laid over the subfloor, instead of being fully bonded with adhesive or secret nailed. This is achieved firstly by laying a 3mm or thicker purpose-made underlay at 90 degrees to the planned direction of the flooring.
Engineered wood flooring may be installed directly to concrete or sand-cement screed sub-floors, or to suitable wood-based sub-floors by fully-bonding with a purpose-made permanently flexible adhesive.
